Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas could potentially earn some playing time for the Reds in midweek, according to James Pearce.
The Lowdown: Tsimikas enjoying solid season
The Greek defender arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2020, and while his first season was largely forgettable, he has been an important squad player this time around.
Tsimikas has made 19 appearances in all competitions in the current campaign, including seven Premier League starts, proving to be a strong understudy to Andy Robertson, who has described his positional peer as a ‘lively’ character.
With matches coming thick and fast for Liverpool, the 25-year-old could take to the field again in the near future.
The Latest: Pearce expects to see Tsimikas this week
That’s certainly the opinion of Pearce, who stated in a Q&A for The Athletic prior to Saturday’s win over Brighton that he expects Tsimikas to earn playing time against either Arsenal in the league in midweek or Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup quarter-final next Sunday
When asked about the possibility of the Greek left-back featuring, the journalist replied: “I’m sure Kostas will get some game time in the coming week with Brighton, Arsenal and then Forest all away. Rotation going to be key to maintain momentum.”

The Verdict: Surely Robertson starts?
In truth, it would be a huge surprise if Tsimikas started over Robertson on Wednesday night in what is a massive game in the title race at the Emirates Stadium.
The Scot remains clearly Liverpool’s first-choice left-back – he has started 21 league matches this season – and Jurgen Klopp will need his strongest possible team up against an in-form Arsenal outfit.
It makes perfect sense for Tsimikas to slot in against Forest, though, allowing Robertson a much-needed breather and the Greek another opportunity to prove his worth in a domestic cup tie.
