Many Southampton fans have been raging after it was revealed that the Saints are set to receive less than £1m through the sale of Alexandre Jankewitz to Young Boys.
His career at St Mary’s was short and not particularly sweet. The 2020/21 season was a disappointing one for the Saints from a Premier League point of view as they only managed to finish 15th in the table. The low point was the 9-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford when, on his first start for Southampton (Transfermarkt), Jankewitz was sent off in the first five minutes.
He has now departed for Young Boys in his native Switzerland (southamptonfc.com). According to Swiss outlet Berner Zeitung, the Saints will receive a mid-six figure fee for the 19-year-old – many Southampton fans feel the club should have got a lot more for him.
The news was shared on Twitter by @SaintsExtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the supporters. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts, with one fan in particular raging at Southampton CEO Martin Semmens.
