PSG player ratings vs Brest: Kylian Mbappe gets desperate defence out of jail while Warren Zaire-Emery again shows how special he can be

The France forward netted twice, including an 89th-minute winner, as Luis Enrique's side survived a shaky second half on Sunday

Kylian Mbappe played hero for Paris Saint-Germain yet again, scoring in the 89th minute to lift his side to a 3-2 over Brest, despite being pegged back from taking an early 2-0 lead. The home side worked their way back into the game, and perhaps deserved a point. Mbappe, though, had other ideas.

Teenage midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery gave the Parisians the lead inside 20 minutes, evading two defenders with a neat touch before lashing the ball into the top corner from outside the box. Mbappe added a second shortly after, running in behind the Brest backline, before cutting inside his man and finding the bottom corner.

Steve Mounie pulled one back for the home side, meeting an angled cross with a guided header that bounced over the outstretched arm of Gianluigi Donnarumma. Brest then got a second shortly after half-time, Jeremy Le Douaron flicking a header into the far corner with Donnarumma beaten.

Inevitably, though, Mbappe got his chance late on. The Frenchman stepped up from the penalty spot in the 89th minute, and though his initial effort was saved, he tucked the rebound into the far corner to snatch three points for his side.

Gianluigi Donnarumma (6/10):

A bit shaky playing the ball out of the back. Could do admittedly little about the goals. Made an excellent double-save to prevent an unlikely comeback.

Achraf Hakimi (5/10):

Set up, oddly, as an inverted full-back, where he doesn't look the most comfortable. Didn't offer loads defensively.

Danilo Pereira (6/10):

Deployed at centre-back, and put some timely tackles in. Better than the more natural central defender next to him.

Milan Skriniar (4/10):

Brest put two accurate crosses into the box and scored two goals. He probably should have made things more difficult for them. Marquinhos' absence was certainly felt.

Lucas Hernandez (5/10):

The two goals came from moves down his side. Put under pressure consistently, and looked slightly uncomfortable throughout.

Warren Zaire-Emery (8/10):

Scored a fantastic goal to open the scoring, and was influential in the middle of the park. Steadily becoming one of the best in Europe at his position.

Fabian Ruiz (6/10):

Preferred to Ugarte. Looked good when PSG were on top. Less effective when it became more physical after the break.

Lee Kang-In (7/10):

Bright on the right wing. His ball to Mbappe for the PSG second was wonderful. Faded late on.

Goncalo Ramos (4/10):

Had some nice touches, but very little impact through the middle. Deservedly subbed after an hour.

Kylian Mbappe (8/10):

Scored twice, including his inevitable winner, and looked as silky as ever. But he lost the ball a few times in key areas. Earned a silly booking for taunting Brest fans.

Bradley Barcola (7/10):

Far brighter than in recent weeks. Assisted Zaire-Emery's goal, and looked to connect with his fellow forwards.

Ousmane Dembele (6/10):

Carried the ball well after he was introduced. Some of his decision-making was poor, though.

Randal Kolo Muani (6/10):

Won the penalty after a neat run into the box.

Vitinha (5/10):

Brought on to add some midfield composure, but ended up spending a lot of time losing the ball.

Nordi Mukiele (N/A):

A defensive body late on. No time to make an impact.

Luis Enrique (6/10):

Went back to a 4-2-4 formation. It worked for spells, especially when Brest sat back, but his side lost control of the game in the second half. Saved by his star man, in the end.
